Sourcing Highlights 2025

It has taken me a little while to write this post but better late than never! I’ve been wanting to share last years adventures for a while as it was such an incredible year. In between flying to Bali several times to source containers for my retail/wholesale business Coastal Vintage, while there I also hosted four sourcing adventures.

The Sourcing Adventurers!

A total of thirty two ladies flew in from across Australia and New Zealand to join the experience. Two ladies also returned from a 2024 tour to enjoy their second adventure.

Each tour was filled with an array of interesting and beautiful women. Some were there to see what options they had to source for a retail business or what products could be created from their own ideas.

Others were seeing what would inspire them to their next stage in life, while many were shopping for their home and wanted to experience Bali in a unique way.

The highlights included exploring the back streets to meet suppliers and artisans, and discovering many treasure troves. We also enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at a Moroccan inspired spa and an afternoon and dinner at a international acclaimed eco-resort made from bamboo and recycled materials.

With each tour, I design the itinerary to include individual interests of each person joining the group, so no two tours are the same and making it a unique experience each time.

Other highlights included:

  1. Four containers and several LCL (less than container load) were shipped to Australia and New Zealand not only for retail stores, but also for a couple of home owners.

  2. Many ladies realised after shopping up a storm that they needed an extra suitcase. With most airlines you can take home 40 kilos. It is best to book this before you arrive at the airport.

  3. Our beautiful Balinese drivers Gede, Agung and Made made our experience extra special with their daily smiles and funny jokes. They also looked after our shopping and stayed up to the wee hours waiting for those who chose to rock on and dance at one of Bali’s magically designed nightclubs.

  4. We celebrated several birthdays at one of our favourite restaurants.

  5. Visiting the Bali Street Mums Project and helping in a small way.

I also enjoyed a treasured family holiday in Bali with my two daughters, sister Pip and our mum/grandma Del.

In March it was such a joy to catch up with these four beautiful and inspiring women who joined me on a sourcing adventure in September 2024. We all stayed at the beautiful Kanvaz Resort in Seminyak.

Everyone was busy with their own projects - either sourcing or/and creating new products, and the bonus was the amazing support and wisdom shared. I love that these women support other women. No jealously. Just kindness and encouragement for one another’s journey!

And finally, it was also a thrill to catch up with Coastal Vintage crew member Alice who was in Bali on holidays with her family. It had been eighteen months since I took the entire crew from Coastal Vintage to Bali to celebrate our tenth birthday, and it was where Alice got the Bali travel bug!

Alice and I met for a cocktail (or two), and enjoyed dinner at a favourite restaurant La Lucciola.

Here’s to many more adventures!
